Thank you for letting us know your thoughts.
We want to give a shout out to all those who replied to the JBAA "Return to Play Survey".
The results were very informative. Everyone who replied recognized the need for modified participation in the sport. Many saw this an opportunity to work on skill development and to maintain fitness. Two parents of youth players mentioned the need for their children to stay busy as part of good mental health. Senior players felt the most they would pay was $100. Parents of youth players said they would pay up to $200.00. Finally all recipients want some form of rugby to happen this fall.
We would like JBAA members to know we are actively working on our Covid Safety Plan and hope to have it approved by the BCRU by August 7th. We then will get our plan to the City of Victoria for their approval so that we can start booking fields. We will open registration just as soon as the BCRU makes Sportlomo available.
We will organize an outdoor, socially distant meeting with coaches and managers once we have all those ducks in a row. From that point all registered players will be asked to come practise and play rugby as best we can given the restrictions in place.
Once we are approved to move into BCRU's phase 3, we will announce JBAA's plan for in-house competition. This is anticipated to happen in September.
Rugby Canada has announced that until we move into contact rugby, insurance will be made available in 12-week blocks. We will plan accordingly. Please keep an eye out for more announcements.
See you all on the pitch.... soon!
